About Us

back when we were much more than 1 inch apart...

Hi, we’re Emmy and Eliza.  People tend to guess that we’re twins, but we’re actually just sisters,- with a few miles, 4 1/2 years, and approximately 1 inch separating us.

Oh and by the way, we don’t think we look anything alike, but apparently we’re in the minority.

10 years ago (ok so maybe 8,) we spent an awful lot of our time fighting over dress- up clothes, fighting over who got to use that one barbie that still had it’s head attached, fighting over pretty much everything really… Starting a blog together was definitely not something we ever saw ourselves doing. However,  although in a lot of ways we’re still pretty much as opposite as they come, one thing we do agree on is that when one of us moves out, (even if it’s just a few miles down the road,) everything changes, and it’s easy to suddenly feel much further apart, which is no good. So, as different as we are, and as much fun as it was to argue over barbies, for the sake of this blog, we’ll be attempting to compile all of our thoughts, photography, and observations, into one central place, while still showing our differences, and maybe even some of our similarities.

We hope you enjoy our sister blog!

Some people might say that being the younger sister is hard, but in my opinion, it’s more of a learning opportunity.  I’ve learned from my older sissy’s mistakes and triumphs.  For the time that isn’t spent learning new things, I spend exploring my creative outlets.  Some of those outlets include painting, drawing, ballet, singing, sewing,  fashion design, photography and writing.  As well as seeing those topics in my posts, you will also hear about my cats, chickens and beehives, what books I’m reading, my love of crafting, what things I’ve been sewing, my favorite recipes, my love of vintage clothing, feeling homesick for the 1940s, traveling, my obsession with Martha Stewart, watching old movies, shopping, spending time with my family and friends, my dreams for the future and of course, a fair share of post about how much I love red lipstick, ironing clothes, and frilly, pink dresses!

I hope you enjoy reading about my crazy, crafty life!

Emmy

I’m the older one, and the taller one, although 90% of people guess the opposite lately. I’m sure in 10 years or so when everyone thinks I’m still 20,  that’ll be a pretty nice compliment. Currently, I’m heading into my junior year at FSU, studying English and Anthropology with an emphasis in underwater archaeology. I’ve been completely fascinated with shipwrecks, particularly the Titanic, since I was about 6, and at one point was so completely obsessed that I could give a 15 minute monologue about the ship’s rivets. Compared to my little sister, I’d say I’m slightly of more  tomboy out of the two, although I do tend to love anything pink or pleated. While Liza’s pretty much a miniature Martha, my big craft project last year was sprinkling glitter on some paper snowflakes for my Christmas tree, and I managed to fail miserably. My clothes will never be folded as nicely as hers either, and my closet will definitely not be color coordinated, I accepted that fact a long time ago. Some of my favorite things are old typewriters, the smell of new notebooks, baking and cooking, being the only girl at the gym lifting weights, and wide open prairie land. Someday I’d love to write freelance, attend culinary school, and own a farm out west. I’ll be posting recipes, random thoughts, updates on my kitten child, Ida, green living tips and ideas, updates on my ongoing attempts to decorate my apartment, critiques of movies and books, and my random, sarcastic comments about my day-to-day life.

Nice blog, ladies. By the way, I would never confuse the two of you as twins, but you obviously do love each other very much. Keep up the good work!
